Researchers developed carbon nanotubes to combat antimicrobial resistance, based on cicada wings which are highly bactericidal. When these come into contact with a bacterial cell, they bend and release elastic energy, killing the bacteria (up to 99.3% of P. aeruginosa and 84.9% of Staph aureus).
