Scientists identified a new compound called F6 that on preliminary testing is potent against antibiotic-resistant pathogens such as MRSA, VRSA, and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE), with vancomycin considered a drug of last resort. Tests indicate it is also less susceptible to resistance.
